Seminole County Deer Run Community Meeting, 8/17/2021
Seminole County has announced a hybrid public meeting for Deer Run community residents to be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 6:00pm.
The meeting will be held in person for a limited number of people who are able to reserve tickets (they are available for free on a first come, first serve basis via Eventbrite). The in-person venue is MetroLife Church (910 S Winter Park Dr, Casselberry, FL 32707 ).
Covid-19 safety protocols for in-person attendance are as follows:
1. Masks are strongly encouraged.
2. Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the venue.
3. Tickets will be required to enter.
4. Seating capacity is limited to approximately 50%.
5. Seating in the venue will be socially distanced.
Other people who cannot/do not wish to attend in person would be able to view the meeting via Zoom. Participation is free but registration is required.
This meeting will explain the MSBU process and what it means for Deer Run. The MSBU process will create a special taxing district in Deer Run to help residents make a contribution to pay a portion of funding for Seminole County to acquire the course and convert it into a public park. The MSBU process requires a special election that will be conducted for residents via mail-in ballot that is tentatively scheduled to begin in September 2021. Residents must achieve a minimum vote of 65% in favor for the MSBU to pass.
Save Deer Run has spent almost three years fighting to prevent development of the former golf course. While we realize there is no perfect solution to the problem, we do believe Seminole County's purchase of the land for conversion to a public park is the best solution to the situation that will preserve the land for generations to come. We need your help to make this happen. We know we've said this before. But we can't do it without the continued support of our residents. Please help us to continue to SAVE DEER RUN. Please help us.
